LocatorLab operates entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers — ever.
LocatorLab ("the Extension") is a browser extension for Chrome and Microsoft Edge that helps QA engineers and developers capture locators, monitor health, fill forms, and record test scripts.
This privacy policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and — most importantly — what it never does with your data.
The Extension never collects, transmits, or shares any of the following:
The Extension stores the following data only on your local device using the browser's built-in storage API. This data never leaves your device.
The Extension requests only the minimum permissions required to function. Here is why each one is needed:
Save your preferences, captured locators, and custom profiles locally on your device. No data leaves the browser.
Interact with the current page to fill forms, capture locators, or record tests — only when you explicitly activate the Extension.
Copy generated locators and test scripts to your clipboard when you click a Copy button. Never triggered automatically.
Add right-click menu options for form filling and locator capture. No data is collected from this permission.
Display the Extension UI in the browser side panel so you can work alongside any page without interrupting your workflow.
Allow the Extension to work on any website you choose to use it on. It only interacts with pages where you explicitly activate it.
The Extension does not use any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking tools. There are no outbound network requests made by the Extension.
All data is stored locally using the browser's secure storage APIs. Since no data is transmitted to any external server, there is no risk of server-side data breach. Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data.
You have full control over all data stored by the Extension:
View: All stored data is accessible via the Extension UI (Health tab, Settings page).
Delete specific items: Use the delete buttons in the Health tab or Assert tab to remove individual entries.
Reset all data: Use the "Reset to Defaults" button in Settings to clear all Extension data.
Delete everything: Uninstalling the Extension from edge://extensions/ or chrome://extensions/ removes all associated data instantly.
LocatorLab is a developer tool intended for professional use. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
This Extension complies with the following policies and specifications:
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
